We are seeking two graduate students and one postdoctoral researcher to join our newly launched research project on autonomous learning AI models.
Flow Physics & Intelligence Lab in the School of Mechanical Engineering, Kyung Hee University (PI: Prof. Jongmin Seo) is seeking one postdoctoral researcher and two graduate students (M.S./Ph.D. or integrated M.S.–Ph.D.) to join a new three-year research project in the Science of AI.
Can an AI decide for itself what to simulate, verify its own answers, and keep learning without forgetting? This project builds a closed-loop AI framework that combines active learning, representation learning, and continual learning in the physical sciences.
Newly generated physics is decomposed into atoms and accumulated in a growing dictionary, enabling the model to improve with each iteration, extrapolate to unseen flow conditions, and expand to new domains. The framework will be tested on a hierarchy of benchmarks, then extended to data-driven modeling.
Postdoctoral Researcher (1 position)
Role: Lead the integration of the closed loop (diagnosis ↔ exploration), including the definition of sub-grid error metrics, their mapping to solver configurations, and convergence/stability analysis of the active-learning loop. The postdoc will also help mentor graduate students and lead publications.
